The Shaman and The Vampire

The Shaman and the Vampire

In the heart of the forest
One can see the balance between
Light and dark, life and death
Both dance with one another
The dance of being and the dance of unbeing

The Shaman breaks himself for liberation
The vampire builds himself to enslave others:
Both dance with one another
Needs for freedom verses needs for control.

Yet in the heart of every Shaman is a Vampire that lurks,
And in Every Vampire is a shaman that tricks and springs the traps -
Each becoming the other’s undoing
For all is a dance of life and death
Of becoming and unbecoming.

In each age, they have new words for vampires:
“Fat Cats”, “Villains”, and “Narcissists”.
Terms for Shamans shift towards:
“Angels”, “Heroes”, “Empaths”
But the energy is all the same.

The vampire seeks to enslave life
Thinking the limited ego is in control.
The Shaman seeks to liberate life
By playing the cosmic fool and trickster.
In the end, each man must make the choice.
Does he trust the Gods in his heart?

Does he have the willingness to both accept let go of the ego’s control?
Does he have the capacity to love others and let them go?
Does he seek to liberate himself and allow others to be what they are?
Does he choose to live life instead of judge life?
Does he dance instead of plot?
Does he laugh instead of worry?
Does he abandon the dark desire in himself for everything to make sense?
Such are the lessons on the Shamanic Path.

Much can be learned by letting life be-
By allowing oneself to be oneself.
Much can be learned by facing one’s vampire
And staring into the greedy heart of darkness
And saying, “I will choose to accept you for what you are.
Let’s dance this dance of life and death together.”
