The Trial

(Odin in the Hall of the Giants by Rhineville)

It is a trial for each man
In the sight of his Kin and his Gods
Of how much freedom he affords
Himself and Others.

It is a trial for each man
In the sight of his Kin and his Gods
To determine when to fight
And when to negotiate.

It is a trail for each man
In the sight of his Kin and his Gods
When to pick up his sword for war
And when to lay it down for peace.

It is a trial for each man
In the sight of his Kin and his Gods
To determine what is worth fighting for
And what needs to be left alone.

For the foolish man seeks war everywhere
And his life is full of chaos
And the coward avoids all conflict
Blindly thinking he is safe.

The wise know there is a time for war
And a time for reconciliation
And the balance of alliances
To build Estate.

Wise is the Heathen who knows his own mind
Who discovers the depths of his own heart
Who knows where he comes from
And the Gods that he walks towards.

For the Gods do not call us to control
With an iron fist of censorship
But to stand in defense of that which is sacred:
The Kin, the Hallowed Grove, the Gods.

The wise are aware of what war brings;
How anger and strife pollutes the Holy Well,
How enemies create more enemies,
And that balance lives in the Hall of the Gods.

“That declaration of dishonesty was a banning curse and was given to whole groups of people which designate these same as belonging together and closely connected to the Wotan service, which was defeated by the church. Not only are these dramatic and acting events persecuted by the Church, but also the dances and especially “Masked plays” (Mummenschanz in German) the Church forbade them as Heathen abominations.”
