Mother Hel

Mother Hel

(Conversation observed while travelling the Hel Roads)

“Mother, is that you?”

“I can be if you like, my Sweet.”

“Who are you, then?”

“I am mother to all who reside here, until they choose to no longer be here.”

“Mother, am I dead?”

“No, Love, true death means asking no more questions.”

“Where am I?”

“You are where you need to be.”

“How did I get here?”

“When you left Midgard, your Naud drove you to the place where you will be fulfilled?”

“What is Naud?”

“It is the force inside a soul. All souls have it and yearn for fulfillment in some way. That yearning weaves your destiny.”

“So what I want happens?”

“Yes, it very much does.”

“So everything that happened to me, I wanted?”

“In some way, it did. Midgard is unique in that you were limited in understanding yourself, so it was easy to take on others Naud. That is why it is so special. It is a realm where we must all learn who we really are by experiencing only a small portion of who we are.”

“Like a prison?”

“More like a giant learning to live as a mouse.”

“Am I a giant?”

“It depends on who’s looking at you. If you were to appear on Midgard right now as you are, they would see you as one.”

“What are you?”

“I am the keeper of this realm. I appear to others in the guise of what they need to see in order to fulfill their purpose in this realm. You can call me Lady Hel.”

“Wait! I’m confused. I thought Hel is a bad place!”

“It is if you need it to be.”

(And the soul walked along a large bridge into darkness, guided by a tall Lady and her wolf. The darkness was not a visible darkness, but a tangible darkness that removed all illusions and forced one to face all of oneself. The soul was perfectly happy, contained and thriving. It was like the whole air the place was made of the richest soil that helped a soul to solidify and grow.)
