The Middle Path
Middle Path
There are two sides of Runes
Like there are two sides of our world:
There are the Runes which sing from the Heavens
And there are the Runes which sing from Hel.
The Runes of the Heavens
Sing of the deeds of Gods and men
With holy fervor and brightened fire.
They see clearly the worlds bound together
And working as one.
They shout in the skies, like thunder
Roaring over battlefields
And they shape and mold the Wyrd
Of Kings and Men alike.
The Runes of Hel
Rise like water between stones
And flood fertile fields -
With want for seeds from the sky.
They sing growing and making songs
Which can build and decay in a season.
They see only that which they are:
Solid and impermeable they sit
And yet, are moved by the Runes of the Heavens.
For the Heavens loves Hel
And Hel loves the Heavens
With a passion driven towards growing.
Thiers is a union for creating life
And struggling in death.
All is turning and All is woven
In the Oorlog of every man.
Man has both Runes in him because he is both:
Body and Spirit,
Earth and Heaven,
Stone and Sky -
And like Odin, Villi, and Ve
Sundering the great roarer,
Our perceptions cause us to
Separate and divide
We forget that Runes can sing.
And that we can hear them.
For the ears are like the skin of a drum
Like the still edge of water on Holy well of Urd.
If we stop to listen,
We just might hear our Runes singing.
If we stop to listen, we just might notice
Both The Runes of Heaven and Hel have a way of creating
Harmony or Discord within the body.
There are two sides of Runes
Like there are two sides to our world.
The third is the Tree which links
Both Earth and Sky
Hel and Heaven
Body and Spirit
Merging into one
Flowing between the two.
Mighty Yggdrasil stands a reminder to us all
That man is both Heaven and Hel
Both Sky and Land
United in one man.
There are two sides of Runes
And yet man can be a third side
If he chooses to listen
While he walks the green roads
Of the Middle Path.
