Who is he who fought chaos’ fury at twilight’s doom?
Who stands at Delling’s door
And bandis wit with Vafthrudner’s Loom?

Who is he who rests between two fires?
Who burns with love for sons and daughters?
Who empowers sisters and honors mothers?

Who is he who eats Laerad’s limbs?
Who died therein, yet rose again -
Driven by lust and Runes to win?

Who is he who’s heart is wide like the sea -
Wind-burnt on Mardoll’s waves, he sails
Bliss and Battle, eye burning bright
Yet always seeking Freyja’s golden light?

 Ymir In the beginning, there was a space between the primal land of ice (Nifleheimr) and the primal land of fire (Muspelheimr), in that Ginnungagap grew Ymir the first of all giants. His body was so vast that his matter was used to create our known universe, the reality of Midgard. The name Ymir in Old Norse comes from the Proto-Germanic word JUMJAZ (*yum-yaz!*) and from the ProtoIndoEuropean root word yemh, which means "twin".
